Greetings,
I am Seon Byeong-joo from Ulsan University College of Medicine, Asan Medical Center.

On August 28th, at 6 PM, the fifth live session of the KSE Echo Webinar, titled 'All About the Mitral Valve,' was held. Looking back at past records, our journey began in October 2022 with the first webinar, titled 'Diagnosis to Treatment of Pericardial Effusion through Case Studies.' This was followed by the 2nd session titled 'Approaching Thick Myocardium Using Echocardiography,' the 3rd session titled 'Seeing the Right Ventricle Clearly with Echocardiography,' and the 4th session titled 'All About the Aortic Valve,' leaving behind a meaningful trail. The original intention behind the KSE Webinar was to leverage the nature of media to share practical topics, tips, and sometimes essential know-how that are not typically covered at academic conferences. From the first webinar, the response was much higher than expected, which has driven the continued momentum up until now. I revisited the previous academic committee chatroom, where we had a vote to decide the title for our first seminar, and surprisingly, 'KSE MasterEcho' won. However, I must admire the foresight of Professor Kim Yong-jin, the Academic Director at the time, who decided to title it 'KSE Echo Webinar,' just as it is now.

The Echo Webinar this time was held at the M2 Studio in Seongsu-dong. Several medical content productions had been done here before, and the setup ensured that speakers could lecture comfortably without feeling overwhelmed by the live broadcast environment. Particularly, Professor Jeong Woo-baek from the Catholic University of Korea College of Medicine showed excellent session moderation. The webinar consisted of four lectures on mitral valve diseases. For mitral stenosis diagnosis and treatment, Prof. Lee Ju-hee from Chungbuk National University and I presented, while Prof. Park Jae-hyung from Chungnam National University and Prof. Jo Dong-hyeok from Korea University focused on mitral regurgitation diagnosis and treatment. One unique feature of the webinar was that, from a speaker's perspective, it felt like shadow boxing, with no live audience, but active questions were coming through the chat. Professors Nam Jong-ho from Yeungnam University and Lee Sang-hyun from Pusan National University spent a busy time responding to questions in real-time from outside the studio. Some questions were also passed on to the Q&A section, where Professors Kim In-cheol from Keimyung University and Hwang Ji-won from Inje University also participated, sharing their knowledge and expertise in a lighter atmosphere compared to traditional academic settings.

Although Chuseok has passed, the summer heat is still going strong. There is a forecast that rain will continue this afternoon, and once it clears, the weather will feel more like autumn. The hot summer has passed with time, but when will the broken reality and my workplace be restored? These days, it feels like there's no choice but to take each day as it comes. I hope all the members of the Korean Society of Echocardiography stay healthy every day, and I look forward to your continued interest in the upcoming KSE webinars.
