On September 26, 2024, the 1st KSE-ISE Webinar was held, co-hosted by the Korean Society of Echocardiography (KSE) and the Indonesian Society of Echocardiography (ISE). The session was moderated by Chairman Jung Hae-ok and Professor Ario Soeryo Kuncoro, President of ISE, focusing on the increasingly relevant topics of the mitral valve and tricuspid valve. The webinar consisting of two sessions was conducted from 7:00 to 9:00 PM (5:00 to 7:00 PM Jakarta time).

In the first session, Prof. Aussie Fitriani Ghaznawie presented on the role of echocardiography in diagnosing mitral regurgitation, followed by Prof. Prima Almazini who lectured on the diagnosis and treatment of functional mitral regurgitation.

In the second session, Prof. Park Seong-ji provided an in-depth lecture on tricuspid regurgitation, focusing on the remodeling of the tricuspid valve and right atrium.

Then, Prof. Lee Hyun-jeong demonstrated the assessment of tricuspid regurgitation causes through various cases using echocardiography. After each session, there was a detailed discussion with four panelists—Professors Lee Sang-cheol, Hong Geu-ru, Real K Marsam, and Ni Made Ayu Wulan Sari—on the lecture content and questions posted in the chat.

During the lecture, Prof. Son Jung-woo and I responded to questions in the chat as chat facilitators. Although the two countries are over 5,000 km apart, we came together with a shared goal of accurately diagnosing and treating patients, as well as advancing the field of echocardiography. I can vividly imagine that the Korean Society of Echocardiography will be able to play a central role in forming active networks with various countries in the near future. I look forward to the next KSE-ISE Webinar and the exciting topics it will cover.
